Key Takeaways:

  • Personal loss can be a catalyst for profound spiritual awakening and inner transformation called, the shift.

  • Surrendering to life's uncertainties allows for a smoother transition into new shifts of existence.

  • Meditation, especially, transcendental meditation, can be a powerful tool for connecting with one's soul and higher consciousness.

The Shift: Embarking on a Journey of Transformation

Life has an undeniable way of propelling us into periods of deep introspection, especially following significant personal loss called, the shift.  Valerie's own narrative is a testament to the potential for radical transformation that can emerge from such depths of despair. Having battled depression and suicidal ideation after the passing of her mother, Valerie's turning point was a meditation session that introduced her to an internal haven of peace, drastically altering her, state of consciousness.

“I went so far, so deep into my soul, into my own being, I didn't even know that place existed,” Valerie reflects, describing her transcendental experience. Her story underpins the idea that within our darkest moments lie the seeds of our most profound growth. It is not merely about recovering from grief but about uncovering an extraordinary layer of our existence that is often untouched until we are stripped bare by life’s hardships and shifts.

The Power of Surrender and Acceptance

Key to Valerie’s transformation, and a potent lesson resonant throughout the conversation, is the concept of surrender—to,  life's shifts,  unpredictability and to the divine flow. She acknowledges that, deep shifts, are tailor-made experiences that often involve aspects of life to which we are greatly attached, like finances, relationships, or health. These experiences break us open, compelling us to embrace change and surrender control.

Valerie posits, “…you understand the deep questions that people ask themselves. And it's kind of spontaneous. And… that helped me a lot come to terms with her death.” This profound understanding that one reaches after facing a, deep shift, is that it's an opportunity to reframe life from a place of acceptance. The shift,  is where we find  fulfillment and freedom from existential anxieties. By letting go of the illusion of control and embracing the greater, unseen divinity of life's course, we become ‘natural shifters' who can gracefully handle life's upheavals and shifts.

Meditation as a Gateway to the Soul

The conversation circles back to meditation, especially, transcendental meditation, as a transformative practice for dealing with life's shifts and roughest currents. The message here is clear: Regardless of the specific modality, meditation stands as a beacon of hope for those seeking to navigate, the shift, of internal turmoil and connect with their essences.

Valerie asserts, “…the only way out is in,” encapsulating the philosophy that to transcend the tumultuous experiences and emerge reborn, one must delve deeply into oneself. Whether it’s through nature, guided practices, or transcendental revelations, meditation is lauded as a means to touch the divine, elevate one’s spiritual frequency, and in turn, unlock, higher realms of consciousness.

In putting the spotlight on In Deep Shift, her book, Valerie provides both her personal roadmap and a universal template for others to find their pathways to peace. It is not just about coping with change but thriving within it, and meditation serves as an indispensable tool in this ongoing journey.

The Shift Movie  What is The Shift?

The first shift that we all make takes us from nonbeing to being; from Spirit to form; from the invisible to our corporeal world of things.

The next shift is the phase I call Ambition where we take on an ego self that is the opposite of the place of Spirit from which we came. Ego in this context is our false self.

These first two shifts are mandatory in the human journey.

Unfortunately, for many people, Ambition is often the end of their life story, but there are two more shifts open to us!

We can all choose to make the leap past the second shift of ego-driven ambition. We arrive at the third shift when we realize that we have an option to make a U-turn away from the false self. We can do an about-face and head back to the place of Spirit in a third shift.

And then, in the fourth shift, we achieve a life of Meaning and purpose by rededicating our Ambition to the fulfillment of our authentic self. We discover that the laws of the material world do not necessarily apply in the presence of the Meaning that is encouraged by our shift to Source. Manifestations of miracles begin to populate the landscape of life.

Meaning is now what defines all the moments of our existence. We can fulfill our greatest calling when we consciously undertake the journey from Ambition to Meaning. We can transform our individual lives and influence the destiny of our sacred planet as well

Your Suffering is Part of Gods Plan

As Christian’s we just celebrated Jesus the Christ and the fact that he bore our sins on the cross. His suffering and the shedding of his blood is the symbol of our deliverance and, God plan. He died as Jesus and arose as, Jesus Christ.

Jesus transformed into The Christ. Christ is the spirit that lives in all Christian’s baptized in the Holy Spirit.

There is no Christ without the cross.  The same goes for everyone else. Suffering is part of Gods plan to open the door to your enlightenment.
In this episode of 5 min Fridays with coach Myrna, I share how to use your suffering as your spiritual practice.

Suffering is the doorway to enlightenment.

Enlightenment is the resurrection.

So, if you are suffering right now, pick up your cross and carry it. Know that God will send someone to help you carry your cross, and at the end of your suffering, because it will end, you will receive your reward.

The Bible says weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

At the end of your suffering, you will be transformed.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”

Gods plan is to get you to your purpose and destiny

Gods plan, is a detailed proposal to get you to your, purpose and destiny.

God has a plan for your life he will not answer any prayer that works against the plans he had for your life.

So Pray according to, God’s plan, and say if it is your will God, then I will obey.

Jesus said “Fatherif you are willing, take this cup away from me—nevertheless, not my willbut yours, be done.

You discover the details of, Gods plan, by walking by faith.

Gods plan, will not destroy you, your suffering is only temporary.

Your suffering is part of, Gods plan, to make you stronger.

Your suffering could be to bless the people connected to you.

Trust that all things work together for your good.

Sometimes Gods answer is not yet.

Not at this moment, but expect it later.

How to Pray like Jesus

Learn to pray like Jesus, father if it is your will take this cup of suffering away from me. God’s answer could be immediate or his answer may be not yet. Carry your cross just like Jesus did. He knew it was his purpose and that is why he came. Most of us do not know why we came, but I can guarantee you if you are suffering it is meant to teach you something that you need to accomplish your purpose.

Suffering is the doorway to your transformation.

Most of us suffer in relationships, but if we are conscious and aware, we will see that we are building strength and character going through and then one day, you get your joy back. One day you arose. One day you got your grove back.

Your suffering becomes your spiritual practice that leads to your awakening.

Accept your suffering like Jesus did. The miracle is in the surrender.

This is how surrendering, far from waving the white flag, becomes the ultimate tool for empowerment and positive action.

When you surrender suffering stops

When you are able to stop wallowing in the unfairness of what life dealt you and all of the shoulds that never came to be, your mind will be free from suffering. Suffering also stops when you surrender to the present moment and  rumination and recrimination about the past.

When I stopped fighting with my situation, my scope and options for positive action became clear, and at that point I was in full control of the little space in life that I actually could control—me.

When I stopped questioning the situation in which I found myself. Some of it was unfair, the result of what I took to be other people’s unjust actions, but at the same time, a lot of it was the result of my own actions, as well as pure chance. While I learned some lessons looking backward, the key to my recovery was accepting where I was and look forward to how to get myself out of it.

My immediate action was to seek help, first from friends and then from a therapist, something I would have previously stigmatized as self-indulgent. Overcoming the shame of that opened the floodgates of what was possible for me, and everything was up for grabs. I learned to surrender.

How God Uses Coincidence To Get You To Your Destiny

Traits of a Virtuous Woman

There are several stories in the bible about the, virtuous woman.  Proverbs say A, virtuous woman, who can find? For her price is worth more than rubies. Proverbs 12:4 says A, virtuous woman, is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

In this episode of 5 min Fridays with coach Myrna, I look at traits of the, virtuous woman, and use as my foundational story the, bible story, of, Ruth and Naomi, and why, Boaz, called, Ruth, a, virtuous woman.

Boaz and Ruth Bible Story

One of my favorite, Bible stories, is the story of, Ruth and Naomi.

The story is told that, Naomi, Ruth’s mother-in-law had huge losses. Her husband died as well as her two sons leaving her with no money. She said that the Lord made her life very bitter and caused her to suffer.

So, Naomi, decided to return home to Bethlehem in Judah because the Lord had blessed Judah with grain.

Naomi blessed her daughter in laws and sent them back home to their families but Ruth clung to her refusing to leave her

Naomi and Ruth, moved to Judah where Naomi told Ruth to go work in the fields of, Boaz, a very wealthy man. Boaz, noticed this strange woman working hard in the fields and enquired who she was. He was told that she was the young woman who came back with, Naomi.

Ruth the virtuous woman

Boaz, was impressed about what he heard about this, virtuous woman, and told his workers to treat her kindly and drop bundles of grain on purpose so she can pick up.

Ruth, worked throughout both the barley harvest and the wheat harvest then, Naomi, decided it was time for her to get a husband.

She gave, Ruth, instructions on what to do and, Ruth, did everything her mother-in-law told her to do. She bathed, put on her best dress applied perfume and lay at the feet of, Boaz. That was the submissive gesture. Boaz, woke up and accepted the offer blessing her for not going after a younger man.

The story ends with, Boaz, marrying, Ruth, and her son Obed was the grandfather of David.

Boaz, called Ruth a, virtuous woman

In this story Ruth was called a, virtuous woman, because:

  • She was loyal to her mother-in-law,
  • She was willing to work,
  • She was willing to leave her home and be a foreigner in another land and
  • She did everything her mother-in-law told her to do

What are the modern-day traits of a virtuous woman?

  • A, virtuous woman, cares for her family.
  • She is a hard worker.
  • While she toils faithfully in meeting the needs of her own family, she also doesn't forget to help the other needy people God brings across her path.
  • She also takes the time to look after her own health and be a good steward of her body.
What’s the benefit of being a virtuous woman?

Aristotle, says that the, keys to happiness, is the practice of, virtue, because, virtue, is in accord with human reason. Aristotle, stated that we can reach minor states of happiness through money, power, or fame, but ultimate happiness can only be reached though the practice of, virtue.

A, virtuous woman, has character traits such as honesty, chastity, courage, and generosity. Virtue, theorists believe that if we concentrate on being righteous people, the right actions will follow; in other words, the people with the right character tend to make the right decisions.

What is the meaning of Virtuous:
  1. Morally good; acting in conformity to the moral law; practicing the moral duties, and abstaining from vice; as a, virtuous man.
  2. Being in conformity to the moral or divine law; as a virtuous action; a virtuous life.
The mere performance of, virtuous, actions does not denominate an agent virtuous.
  3. Chaste; applied to women.
  4. Efficacious by inherent qualities;
