Key Takeaways

  • Mindfulness as a Foundation: Emphasizing presence and the power it holds in reclaiming mental strength.

  • The Art of Non-Resistance: Acceptance and non-judgment as pillars of mental endurance and clarity.

  • Empowerment through Intentional Action: How deliberate responses over reactions define true mental mastery.

Habit 1: Your Unbreakable Mind – The Power of Presence

Practicing Presence as a Daily Meditation

Being present is not just beneficial; it is crucial for mental strength. As Myrna elucidates, “Presence is the foundation of an unbreakable mind.” Often, our bodies are in one place, yet our minds wander through distant arguments or future concerns. This disconnection dilutes our power and presence is the remedy. Myrna practices presence through “walking meditation,” learning from Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings. She describes noticing the smallest details—the “trees,” the “birds singing,” the “warmth of the sun”—as monumental in anchoring oneself.

Build an Unbreakable Mind: 7 Daily Habits to Transform Your Life

Habit Two: Learn to Release Your Thoughts

One of the greatest discoveries you can make is this:

You are not your thoughts.

Thoughts are not facts.

Thoughts are not truth.

They are simply mental events passing through your mind.

Most suffering comes because we believe every thought we think.

Instead, become the observer.

Notice your thoughts without chasing them.

Transforming Wandering Thoughts into Mental Strength

Just as Bruce Lee described water’s adaptability, an unbreakable mind changes shape without losing essence. Myrna’s reflective question, “What does your daily habits do?” connects directly to this philosophy. An unbreakable mind is not one that feels no fear or sadness; rather, it embraces these emotions. Through consistent presence, these feelings do not fracture the mind; instead, they reinforce its strength.

Habit 3: The Art of Acceptance: Overcoming Resistance

Embracing Reality: Acceptance Over Resistance

One of the most profound insights Myrna shares is the virtue of acceptance. She notes, “Acceptance doesn’t mean you approve of everything. It simply means you stop wasting energy, wishing reality was different.” Through water’s lesson of non-resistance to its container, Myrna reminds us of Lao Tzu’s wisdom that reality, once here, must be accepted before adaptation or mindset transformation can occur.

Stop resisting reality.

Acceptance doesn’t mean you approve of everything.

It simply means you stop wasting energy wishing reality were different.

Water doesn’t complain about the container it’s poured into.

It simply adapts.

Many of us spend years fighting reality.

“This shouldn’t have happened.”

“Life isn’t fair.”

“They shouldn’t have treated me this way.”

Resistance drains your energy.

Habit 4: Practice Non-Judgment as a Pathway to Inner Peace

Myrna candidly shares her struggle with judgment. Recognizing patterns and flaws is intrinsic to a life coach. However, the tendency to create narratives around these observations is where the judgment ensnares us. The practice of non-judgment is important in building an unbreakable mind.  It demands observation without attaching biased stories. This method not only fosters compassion but also lightens the mental load, allowing for clearer, unbiased thinking.

Habit Five Unbreakable Mind: Practice Solitude

Many people can be alone.

Very few people can be alone with themselves.

We constantly fill every empty space.

Music.

Television.

Podcasts.

Social media.

Books.

Noise.

Silence can feel uncomfortable because that’s when we finally hear ourselves.

Habit 6 Unbreakable Mind: Gratitude and Solitude as Catalysts for Intentional Living

Gratitude emerges as a transformative practice. Myrna illustrates its profound potential, claiming, “Gratitude doesn’t just change your mindset; it changes your biology.” Practicing gratitude at the molecular level enhances mental resilience and well-being. Complementing this practice, solitude—as a form of reflection free from distractions like social media or music—allows the mind to reset. This silence cultivates a rich inner dialogue essential for sustaining intentional living.

This journey through habit formation illuminates the intricate process of developing an unbreakable mind. As Myrna shares, “You become mentally stronger. You still experience pain…but like water, you bend instead of breaking.” These daily practices are accessible to all, requiring no financial investment or special talent—just consistent effort. Engage with one habit today, allowing it to seep into your daily routine. As this practice matures, the next challenges and strengthens your resolve. With time, resilience blooms, offering an unwavering strength that navigates life’s complexities.

Habit 7: Intentional Action build an Unbreakable Mind

Deliberate Choices Over Reactive Responses

Myrna highlights an essential distinction between reaction and response. “Most people react. Strong minds respond.” Through meditation, she has discovered the pause between stimulus and response—a moment filled with potential to choose thoughtfully. This calculated approach embodies true mental mastery. By questioning personal values before responding, one aligns actions with desired personal identity.

On the podcast I interviewed Tim McDonald.  Tim is a survivor of stage 4 Colorectal cancer. I asked him what his reaction was when he heard the words “You have cancer” he told me that he had been practicing mindfulness meditation for 15 years and he no reaction when he had those words. Un unbreakable mind does not react. Tim response “what do I do to beat this cancer.”
